Footings and Foundations

NBC Section 9.15 provides standards for the design and construction of footings and foundations for residential buildings.

9.15.3.1. Footing Sizes. Footings shall be sized to distribute the load from the building to the soil without exceeding the bearing capacity of the soil.

9.15.4.1. Foundation Walls. Foundation walls shall be designed to resist lateral pressure from the soil and to support the vertical loads from the building.
