NBC 9.22: Fireplace Design and Construction

9.22.1.1. Scope. This Section applies to the design and construction of masonry fireplaces and the installation of factory-built fireplaces.

9.22.2.1. Hearth. Fireplaces shall be provided with a non-combustible hearth to protect the floor from sparks and embers.

9.22.3.1. Combustion Air. Fireplaces shall be provided with a source of outdoor combustion air to prevent indoor air quality issues.
