9.30.3. Wood Strip Flooring Standards

The OBC provides strict guidelines on the thickness and orientation of wood strip flooring to prevent sagging or failure under load.

Wood strip flooring should not be laid parallel to lumber subflooring unless an additional underlay is used. When installed without a subfloor, the strips must run at right angles to the joists, ensuring all end joints are staggered and positioned over supports.
